What Equipment Do You Need To Be A Gaming Influencer

Gaming Influencer

If you want to be a gaming influencer, and really make a living of it, there’s some recording and gaming equipment and accessories that you need to excel in. Some of these items can be bargain-based, but some will be on the pricier end. It might seem like a lot to get started with, but if you’re serious about your future as one of the top gaming influencers, then you can consider this purchase of the best gaming equipment as an investment in the future of your career as an influencer.

The Starter Kit

To start off on the right foot, there are a few things you need in your gaming setup to make yourself as comfortable in the space as possible. Your comfort with your equipment is vital because, without it, you’ll be struggling to create content in a space that doesn’t suit you.

Starting with the small stuff, having a mouse and keyboard that suits you will make all the difference in your comfort in your gaming space.

For your mouse, you don’t have to go with the fanciest options out there, but be aware that there are different types of mice when it comes to hand size, hand dominance, and style. You may have only ever used a standard wired mouse before, so it’s well worth exploring wireless options, trackball mice, and vertical mice, to see if there’s something out there that perfectly suits you. If you want something that’s a generally excellent gaming mouse, and you’re alright with spending a bit more, but not too much, the Razer Deathadder V2 is a stellar option.

Finding a quality keyboard includes many of the same steps as finding your mouse. There’re options out there, but what really matters is if it suits you and your budget. If you want to have some fun with it, you can always go with a backlit option, like this Logitech keyboard, to brighten up your gaming space.

When it comes to your gaming chair, it’s still all about what suits you, but there’s a bit more variety to choose from. You can go with a basic budget-buy, or you can spend quite a bit on something like the Scorpion chair. Whether you spend $50, $100, or $1000 on your chair, the most important factor is that it fits your body, because you’ll be spending a lot of time in it and you don’t want something that is going to hurt after a while.

And, to round out your basic setup, you’ll need an excellent desk to put all your equipment on. It could be a sitting/standing desk, or three plastic tables pushed together, or a custom-made gaming desk, as long as it is the right height for you, and has space for everything you need to have around you.

The Nitty Gritty

Beyond the basics, there are some specific items that will make your journey to becoming a top gaming influencer much smoother. Some variation of these items is pretty much non-negotiable if you want to make it into the gaming influencer sphere.

To start off, having multiple monitors is necessary for filming purposes since while you’re gaming, you’ll also be talking to the camera and keeping an eye on comments, etc. Whether it’s two, three, or more (Woah!) monitors, you’re looking at a hefty investment in setting up your monitor space. If you’re looking for solid quality for your money, any options from Dell are a great way to go.

You’ll also need a mic that suits you. This is where there’s some leeway with spending, because there are so many mic options, and the best one for you won’t necessarily be the most expensive. The Snowball mics have made quite a name for themselves as being excellent quality, while not breaking the bank.

And, to complete your recording setup, you’ll need a camera (or cameras) to capture you, your gaming space, and anything else you wants to share in your streams and gaming montages. This is a space where you could end up spending a lot because goodness knows there are some wild camera options out there that can cost quite a bit. You’ll also need a fair amount of equipment to support your camera, from a tripod to lighting, etc. A good place to start is with a quality webcam, and for that, the C922 PRO HD from Logitech is the way to go. It’s relatively inexpensive and will get you started on all your recording needs.

Behind The Scenes

There are also some items you’ll end up investing in that your audience won’t necessarily be aware of, but they’re equally important to have an ideal gaming influencer space.

If you live in an apartment, or you just really want a dedicated space, some level of soundproofing will go a long way. There are plenty of different ways to soundproof your space, some of which are more effective than others. Whether you go with a heavy blanket, acoustic foam on the walls, or you simply find the best room that’s already built to absorb sound, some level of soundproofing will go a long way to ensuring excellent quality in the sound of your videos.

You’ll also need to invest in video editing software that suits your needs. If you’re choosing to work through the whole process of gaming content creation, you’ll need some editing software to really make your content shine. There are plenty of options out there, it’ll really come down to what works best for you, and what you want to get out of your editing software.

And, last but certainly not least, you’ll want to invest in some quality mounts for your camera, your mic, even your computer. What you need, mount-wise is really dependent on what you get for your other equipment, but it’s something to be aware of so that your space is completely situated for your best gaming and recording experience.
