Amidst the slew of exciting E3 news and programs, the June 15 Nintendo Direct was one of the most highly anticipated events of the month. The program started strong with the announcement of the newest addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s roster, Kazuya Mishima of the iconic Tekken series.

Kazuya will be the fifth playable character added to the Fighters Pass Volume 2, and he is also the very first representative character from Bandai Namco’s Tekken series to enter into the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Kazuya was the protagonist of the original 1994 Tekken game, but eventually develops a more antagonistic role later in the series. His reveal trailer depicted him throwing other Smash Bros. fighters off a cliff, an iconic element to his character and story in Tekken‘s franchise.

Kazuya’s gameplay will boast a plethora of moves, from his Flash Tornado move to his Demon God Fist. Kazuya’s “Devil” persona will also appropriately be a part of his playstyle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, doing proper justice to his character in the Tekken series.

While Kazuya’s release date has not been confirmed, this, along with his gameplay kit, will be revealed more in depth during the “Mr. Sakurai Presents ‘Kazuya’” live broadcast program, airing June 28, 2021 at 7:00 a.m. PT/10:00 a.m. ET.
