SADBOYS Rebrands To Penta Ace With Partial Roster Shuffle

After placing fifth in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Season 1 – North America Upper Division, SADBOYS has gone through a series of changes in the past week. The team will no longer be playing under the tag of SADBOYS and has rebranded itself as Penta Ace, Sneyking said in a Tweet.

As of Sneyking’s Tweet, David “Moo” Hull will no longer play the offlane, instead taking the hard support duties, while Sneyking will move from the soft support role to the offlane. Eric “Ryoya” Dong has joined the squad as its new mid laner alongside Zakari William Lee “Zfreek” Freedman, who will play in the position 4 role as a soft support.

Ryoya moved from his former team, Black N Yellow, while Zfreek left simply TOOBASED to join the Penta Ace squad. Ryoya’s BNY had barely managed to stay in the DPC 2021 North America Upper Division’s Season 2. Zfreek’s team, sT, went 7-0, winning all of its match series to place first in the Lower Division of the DPC 2021 NA regional league, ensuring them a spot in the Upper Division of Season 2 of the DPC 2021.

These roster changes have come days after Peter “ppd” Dager left SADBOYS, stating that he wasn’t sure whether he would compete in the second season of the DPC 2021 or not. ppd was the team’s captain and position 5 hard support.

Barely a day later, the team’s mid laner, David “dnm” Cossio, announced his departure from the team as well.

All these changes took place amidst the ongoing Beyond the Summit Pro Series Season Five. As of now, all three teams, Black N Yellow, simply TOOBASED and Penta Ace, will be in the Upper Division of the DPC 2021 Season 2 despite going through major roster shuffles. And this trend might continue well into the second season in spite of the DPC point penalties that Valve issues.

A well thought out ruling is imperative at this point to ensure that players don’t get the short end of the stick. Outside of the elite professional teams, Dota’s professional leagues might continue to be this chaotic given how teams and organizations want to ensure that they have tried every method possible to get to The International.

Current Penta Ace Dota 2 roster:

Clinton “Fear” Loomis

Eric “Ryoya” Dong

Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu

Zakari William Lee “Zfreek” Freedman

David “Moo” Hull
