Quincy Crew has acquired Milan “MiLAN” Kozomara as a replacement for Arif “MSS” Anwar for its upcoming ESL ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 matches. The team’s manager, Jack “KBBQ” Chen, announced the change on his Twitter.
“Quincy Crew is happy and thankful to have @milandota2 standing in for @MSSDota in Singapore,” KBBQ said. MiLAN’s participation in the Singapore Major is still subject to approval given that he hasn’t yet received all the necessary documentation, nor are his COVID-19 test results back.
The announcement came a little over a day after KBBQ announced that MSS had tested positive for COVID-19. “We regretfully announce that @MSSDota has tested positive for covid and will be unable to make it to Singapore,” KBBQ said in a Tweet a day earlier where he described MSS symptoms to be “mild so far” and that he was doing well. The team had been on the lookout for a substitute player whose travel requirements could be quickly processed since the Singapore Major is set to begin in less than a week’s time.
MSS is Quincy Crew’s Soft Support. MiLAN, who is also a position 4 player, had last played for team mudgolems until December 2020, after which the team was acquired by Tundra Esports. He has played as a stand in for different teams since. His most recent stint was in the Dota Pro Circuit EU Lower Division with team Creepwave. In the meantime, he has managed to qualify for the DPC 2021: Season 2 – Europe Closed Qualifier with his new team, Ghost Frogs.
Quincy Crew placed second in the NA Upper Division of the DPC 2021, only losing a series to team Undying, who placed third in the table. Quincy Crew lost to Evil Geniuses in the first-to-third place tiebreakers for the Singapore Major. That was the only series they lost to EG in the NA Upper Division matches.
