I know, it was only a few years ago when Nolan North himself practically told us to forget about another installment, and that we would have to take Uncharted 4’s ending as the franchise wrap-up. However, he did say he was “ready to break out his climbing gear” when a Naughty Dog producer said he’d love to see another game.
It was enough to give us back a modicum of hope. You pair this up with Studio San Diego’s goal to create a UC successor, and hopes start to get higher. Not to mention that Nolan North said himself he wouldn’t mind working on another Uncharted title, just that he wasn’t currently working on one at the time around March of last year.
Even though Uncharted 4 was supposed to be the ending of Drake’s story, there is still enough potential for his daughter to have a fleshed-out storyline that could damn well compete with Tomb Raider.
To add fuel to the fire in terms of possible production, Michael Mumbauer, known as RobinGaming on Youtube, is a San Diego member who told us that the studio might be making moves for the next Uncharted game very soon via his LinkedIn account.
If Uncharted 4 was the end of Drake’s story, then the spin-offs centering around Cassie following in her father’s footsteps would also allow his character to come back in cameos. If multiple producers are wanting to see another installment, and the new studio devoted to “making another Uncharted game” is really making those moves currently, then it’s a safe bet to say that the Uncharted franchise isn’t finished just yet, and will most likely launch on the PS5.
