IKEA Makes an Entrance to the Gaming Furniture Arena

Phase Two of the IKEA PC gaming furniture release has officially commenced. After covering the development back in September of 2020, the collaboration of IKEA, renowned hardware brand Republic of Gamers (ROG), and a subsidiary of ASUS has finally produced a market-available product.

The collection — currently exclusive to IKEA China — carries four desk/chair combinations. The set prices are much in the vein of IKEA’s business model: stylish and affordable. Additionally, the price points were made with the idea that an expanded demographic of people would have access to set-ups they see on the professional esports circuit.

“The needs of billions of gamers around the globe are very diverse, whereas the existing offer is rather technical and often perceived as masculine design-wise, despite around 46 percent of gamers being female,” said Ewa Rychert, global business leader of workspace at IKEA of Sweden, in a news release.

“We believe there’s a lot to be done to democratize the gaming experience,” she continued. “Now we take the first step on our gaming journey and we do it by presenting affordable, high-performing gaming products and complete solutions that we hope reflect people’s personality and taste.”

Along with aesthetics and cost considerations, the new furniture line takes a big step forward in innovation.

At its core, the product line that has gamers most excited is the Uppsel line of furniture. While the prices may be on the steeper side, the entire ensemble is quite impressive. The line includes two different table top sizes, 180x40cm and 180x40cm, that use an electric motor to set table heights that allow players to create their ideal gaming experience. If you’re going to put in the hours, why not do it from a throne fit for royalty.

There are plenty of other furniture series that both accentuate the Uppsel line with accessories as well as other more cost-friendly options.

Here are a number of other furniture options that can create a complete gaming oasis.

The Utespelare line is more of a modern look with softer color tones

Lånespelare is a line of accessories that includes this sweet headphones holder. Seriously, how cool is this?!

The Huvudspelare line is more affordable, with a matte black finish and red that’s easy on the eyes yet gives the impression hardcore gaming is no joke.

With the new line of IKEA furniture coming to the states in October of 2021, gamers will have to wait a bit before they begin the puzzle fitting process IKEA is known for. Yes, IKEA provides a test of patience and a lengthy set of directions, but from the looks of the furniture line, it sounds like the wait will be worth it in the end.
