G2 Esports Picked Up zeek For Its VALORANT Roster

While there is only a week left for the beginning of VALORANT Champions Tour, teams are about to finalize their rosters. European powerhouse G2 Esports has added Polish player Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt to its squad as the fifth player. As an addition, G2 also had an agreement with “nEiLZiNHO” for the coaching spot.

In December, G2 Esports decided to bench Belgian player Davidp after a disappointing result in First Strike: Europe when the team got eliminated by Heretics in the semifinal. Since then, the organization has been looking for a player to fill the spot, and zeek was among the options since his former team has disbanded.

The announcement has been made on G2 Esports’ social media channels with a video in which the members of the roster watch zeek’s tremendous plays in the past and comment on them. At the end, G2 welcomes its new players with a cool design.

Zeek stepped into the competitive scene as a Fornite player in 2018. In April, after nearly two years of competition, the Polish player moved to VALORANT when the closed beta of the game was released and has been continuing to compete since then. His VALORANT career started in a local Polish team called THOSE GUYS, where zeek claimed victories in many low-tier tournaments. Afterward, the new member of G2 Esports joined nolpenki, a Europe-based team and managed to qualify for the main event of First Strike: Europe. However, its journey in the tournament was quite short as it was defeated by FunPlus Phoenix in the first round.

G2 Esports had been known as the best team in the world at the early stage of VALORANT. It won every tournament it attended and never lost a BO3 until the First Strike. G2 was the favorite of the event, but hit a Spanish wall in the semifinal; Team Heretics defeated the European powerhouse, and G2 dropped Davidp immediately following the result.

G2 Esports will make the debut with its renewed roster at the end of January. The roster is:

  • Oscar “Mixwell” Cañellas
  • Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks
  • Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski
  • Jacob “pyth” Mourujärvi
  • Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt
  • Neil “nEiLZiNHo” Finlay (coach)
