EDward Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix Secured Spots in LPL Playoffs

EDward Gaming’s 2021 season has been outstanding if we extract its playoff performance. EDG is a total regular-season raid boss and it has been showing its dominance since the start of the season. Just like the previous split, EDward Gaming once again guaranteed itself a playoff spot before any other team. This time, FunPlus Phoenix has also joined the bandwagon and reserved a playoff spot three weeks before the regular season ends.

EDward Gaming started the season with dominance as it won the first seven matches on its schedule. After dropping a game to Top Esports, EDG won three more games against Oh My God, ThunderTalk Gaming and LGD Gaming; however, the team lost its last two games to Royal Never Give Up and Team WE. Despite the back-to-back losses, EDG is still sitting at 10 wins and three losses, and over FPX in the standings.

On the other hand, FunPlus Phoenix is also sitting at three losses and two of these came earlier in the split. Crisp had to step down for three games, but the team did not make any mistakes during them. Now, Crisp is back on the roster and FPX is looking like the second strongest team in the league.

Regular season results may be misleading, in other words. These two have been the strongest teams during the regular season, but we are three weeks away from the playoff madness. We have witnessed incredible twists during the LPL playoffs and this is one of the reasons that this league is one of the best in the world.

EDG and FPX have guaranteed themselves spots in the LPL playoffs and their nearest competitors are Rare Atom and LNG Esports. Rare Atom will face RNG this week, LPL’s fittest team considering the last couple of weeks. LNG will play against Rogue Warriors and Top Esports. If these two win this week’s games, we may see the other guaranteed playoff teams set in stone.
