Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach Gets Gameplay Reveal

PlayStation’s February 25 State of Play broadcast revealed a new and eerie gameplay trailer for the incoming PlayStation 5 horror title Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. The eighth installment in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, the game was originally announced on August 8, 2019 in commemoration of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise’s 5th anniversary. It is currently slated for a 2021 release on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, with additional ports to come later.

The game is set in a shopping mall with various entertainment locations like an arcade, laser tag arena, and the newly expanded Freddy Fazbear pizza restaurant, the Mega Pizza Plex. Players take on the role of Gregory, the main character, who must follow the directions of an unknown individual to lead him to safety and away from the mall-inhabiting animatronics that become deadly adversaries during after-hours. These include Glamrock Freddy, Glamrock Chica, Montgomery Gator, and Roxanne Wolf.

The gameplay reveal trailer featured first-person free movement mechanics, in which players must maneuver through the shopping mall and effectively avoid the bloodthirsty animatronics wandering the facility. Players may also perform actions like diving into ball pits and hiding behind various objects to avoid being seen. Several instances depict the murderous animatronics essentially hunting the player down, forcing the need to proceed with caution and remain aware of surroundings.
