All teams in the main stage of Challengers 2 came there from a long road. While Ninjas in Pyjamas, Fnatic, Wave Esports and FunPlus Phoenix earned spots in the main event by placing top four in Challengers 1, Alliance, G2 Esports, OG and Team Heretics were obligated to succeed in the open qualifier.

The main stage started with the matchup between Wave Esports and Alliance. Both teams were looking pretty equal before the series, but Alliance was the favorite. Thanks to the great performance as a whole, Alliance managed to beat its opponent in Icebox and Haven, which lasted an hour, qualifying for Masters 1.

A surprising result occurred in the second series of Challengers 2’s main event. In the clash where two European powerhouses faced each other, Ninjas in Pyjamas took down G2 Esports without dropping a single map to obtain its place in Masters 1.

The second day of the main stage began with FunPlus Phoenix versus Fnatic. This was the only series which extended to the third map since Fnatic got over FPX in Bind. After the persuasive victory in Bind, Fnatic’s hopes increased; However, ANGE1 and his friends pulled themselves together, and with the addition of dimasick’s superb performance, they succeeded in winning the series. FPX secured the third spot of Masters 1.

The last series of the tournament was the most one-sided matchup among the others. The First Strike: Europe champion, Heretics, despite failing in the Challengers 1’s qualifier, showed its real strength. The Spain-based team surpassed OG in Ascent and Bind, consecutively, earning the fourth ticket of Masters 1.

Those four teams which did not qualify have one more chance for getting through to Masters 1 in the Challengers 3. As the reward of participating in Challengers 2’s main event, they will start the next tournament in the main stage by skipping the open qualifier. Valorant Champions Tour 2021: Europe Stage 1 Challengers 3 is going to begin on March 6.
