Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.1 Released for Consoles, PC, and Stadia

After more than a month post the disastrous debut of CD Projekt Red’s most anticipated title, Cyberpunk 2077 is making a huge step towards improving its gameplay experience with the release of Patch 1.1. The update provides fixes to a number of problems encountered by players on last-gen consoles, as well as on PC and Stadia.

The most impactful improvements are those relating to game stability. Patch 1.1 provides crash fixes relating to opening the game, closing the game, and loading saves. It also addresses the crash people have had at the “Point of No Return” mission at Arasaka Tower. Outside of specific crash fixes, the update also addresses memory usage issues pertaining to character interactions, devices, minimap, certain visual effects, and environmental activities.

The patch notes also revealed and confirmed specific issues players have been complaining about pertaining to quests and open-world Night City. Problems that were fixed after the update included not being able to call Delamin in the “Epistrophy” mission, Judy teleporting underground in the “Pyramid Song” mission, opening the package in “Space Oddity” wouldn’t update the mission, and Jackie disappearing out of nowhere in the middle of “The Pickup.”

Other fixes included general UI and visual improvements. Players previously experienced the inability to leave Braindances because the exit prompt would not appear – that has now been fixed. There was also a bug fix relating to cars not spawning correctly in the mission “Reported Crime: Welcome to Night City.”

The update also provides improvements specific to unique problems found on each gaming system. The PlayStation fixes address crash fixes and crowd optimization. The Xbox fixes provide better memory usage for character attributes and menus. While PC and Stadia players have not reported nearly as many problems as the console players, they still have had their share of system specific fixes. The PC fixes address startup crashes and the ability to get achievements while using Steam offline. The Stadia fixes improved some melee weapon textures and addressed deadzone settings. 

The majority of Patch 1.1 appears to focus on mission specific glitches as opposed to cleansing the bugs encountered when exploring the open world, but considering that this is the first of many other planned updates, it is a step in the right direction. CD Projekt Red is currently working hard on finishing Patch 1.2 and is expecting to release it by next month. There’s no telling how many more updates it will take for Cyberpunk 2077 to be considered playable by the general public, but it’s on its way to becoming the game it was marketed as.
