Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War Include Rambo and Die Hard DLC

At the start of Season 3 for Warzone, the Verdansk map got nuked to oblivion in order to make way for a new Warzone map with an ’80s flair to it: Verdansk ‘84. In order to keep things interesting while sticking to the ’80s theme, a midseason update called the ’80s Action Heroes update has added locations based on the Die Hard and Rambo movies to the Warzone map while also including John Rambo and John McClane as playable operators.

Before the event was formally announced on May 13, the official Twitter page for Call of Duty posted a cryptic message that included player stats for someone with the name SURVIVORJOHN#1009062. Fans were quick to point out that the amount of kills mentioned in the stats matched the on-screen killcount of John Rambo. SURVIVORJOHN also had 5 wins, mirroring the amount of movies in the Rambo series.

Having John Rambo in Warzone shouldn’t be a huge surprise to the gaming community, as he recently made an appearance as a playable fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. A surprising twist which made the update worthwhile, however, was having John McClane come out to the coast to get together and have a few laughs. The night before the 80’s Action Heroes update, Call of Duty live-tweeted a Die Hard watch party and made the announcement that Nakatomi Plaza would be the “next Warzone drop spot.”

Nakatomi Plaza can be found in the heart of Downtown where Broadcast Tower used to be and has a number of hidden side missions you can find if you explore the area. The Hostile Fire mission will have you find and disarm all C4 locations around the tower, the Unfinished Business mission requires you to find three hidden crates, and the Deal Gone Wrong mission involves waves of enemies you must eliminate.

While Nakatomi Plaza serves as the Verdansk connection to Die Hard, the survival camps serve as a connection to Rambo. Ten survival camps are spread out across the entire map to help you complete the Rambo POW dog tags challenge. To highlight all the survival camps on your map, you’ll need to visit the CIA outpost, where you’ll find a hung-up interactable map of Verdansk. You can only collect one pair of dog tags per match, and if a player takes them before you, then you’re out of luck.

The 80’s Action Heroes midseason update has raised the excitement for Warzone by adding a healthy dose of 80’s action movie nostalgia. Welcome to the party, pal.
