Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War has more rockin’ tunes for Season Two

With Season Two of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War (BOCW) upon us, Treyarch has included more songs for players to unlock as they power through the Battle Pass. Here are the bangers players can listen to as they ride in vehicles in game or in the music player itself.

In Season One, players did not have to progress far in the Battle Pass – level one – to unlock a selection of classic tunes from the original Black Ops. This time around, Treyarch has upped the difficulty a tad, with memorable songs from Black Ops II now being unlocked at level 44. Though more grinding is required, the payoff is absolutely worth it.

Headlining this selection is “Adrenaline,” Black Ops II’s instantly-recognizable multiplayer theme, where many hours were spent either creating custom emblems or just waiting to join a game. Next up is “Damned 100AE,” a remix of one of the most iconic songs in Zombies history.

Rounding out the list is the main theme of Black Ops II and “Shadows.” The main theme is legendary in and of itself as it was composed by Nine Inch Nails’s Trent Reznor and adds a melancholy vibe typically not experienced in a Call of Duty title. Lastly, “Shadows” is a more upbeat track, lending itself to the good times a Call of Duty game should give.

Much like Season One’s offerings, Season Two is filled with rock anthems including Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell,” Motley Crue’s “Wild Side,” and Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” which are unlocked at level 72. Of the three, perhaps the most recognizable in popular culture is “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” as it reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart — Twisted Sister’s only Top 40 single.

Meanwhile, “Wild Side” is a song about living in the rougher neighborhoods of Los Angeles. One of Motley Crue’s more popular songs, it makes sense why the 1987 hit was featured in Season Two.

Finally, “Rebel Yell” is included as it was featured in the recently-released “Outbreak” trailer. Apart from being a good song to kill zombies to, it is genuinely a good song to rock out to as well, as it was voted the 79th best hard rock song of all time by VH1.

Toward the end of the Battle Pass – specifically, at level 94 – players can unlock another great selection of pop hits, headlined by Toto’s “Africa.” A fantastic song in its own right – hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart – “Africa” gained almost universal acclaim after it became a meme in the late 2010’s. Even with this context, it is still a great song to listen to.

Quintessentially 80’s, Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America” features a mixture of synthesizer hits, a groovy bassline and an incredibly infectious melody. As a result, it peaked at number two in the UK in 1981 and was ranked the 91st most successful song of 1982.

Concluding the 80’s pop list is “Your Love” by The Outfield. Released in 1986, the song reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and number seven on the Mainstream Rock Chart. Overall, though it is technically considered a rock song, it is a supremely catchy song and deserves to be included regardless.

In all, Treyarch continues to bring out the hits for BOCW. Though it will take more time to unlock these songs compared to Season One, just having them available in the game is enough inspiration, especially since they are all free.

That said, it is important to note that every song – aside from the ones available in Black Ops II – cannot be played on the music player and can only be played while in vehicles. Nevertheless, expect players to blast these songs and have a good time while playing multiplayer or the new Outbreak Zombies mode.
