Within the desire to return to its 2019 form, Team Liquid made its first move in CS:GO for the new season. Two-time major champion and a legend of the scene, Brazilian star Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo has joined Team Liquid. The announcement has been made on Team Liquid’s CS:GO Twitter account with a four-minute long video in which FalleN shares his thoughts.
The rumor about the roster move has been talked about for a serious amount of time, but the official statement came a little bit late. The Brazilian star will take the place of Twistzz, who announced his departure from the team in December after the IEM Global Challenge.
“Joining an organization like Team Liquid feels like an amazing accomplishment,” FalleN said in the video. “I feel I’m gonna be able to accomplish a lot of stuff, so there’s a lot of motivation for me to be able to join a team like that.”
FalleN has been active in the Counter-Strike scene for a long time, starting his career in 16 years ago, and he’s still competing at the high level in CS:GO. Spending nearly all of his career on Brazilian rosters, FalleN prepares to face a different chapter of his career as joining a team that speaks English as the main language.
“I chose Liquid because I played against them for many years, I know their strengths and I know how well they can play,” FalleN said. “I think that, with my abilities and the way I think about the game I can be helpful.”
It’s expected that FalleN is going to take the main AWP role in Liquid since there isn’t a main AWP player in the squad. Even though Stewie2K and NAF were filling that gap before, having an AWPer is a must for any CS:GO team.
The veteran player will debut with his new team at BLAST Premier: Global Final 2020 which will start on Jan. 19. The full roster of Team Liquid is:
- Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski
- Keith “NAF” Markovic
- Jake “Stewie2K” Yip
- Michael “Grim” Wince
- Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo
- Jason “moses” O’Toole (coach)
- Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken (benched)
